● 5501, 64x1, 65x1 -  8xx1 and 901F models of 2016

● 6412-6482, 7xx2, 8xx2 and 9002 models of 2017

Situation

The above mentioned Philips Android TVs ranges (with Android L or Android M) have Google Cast Ready built-in. This feature enables to stream a Google Chrome browser to the TV, cast apps and control the TVs playback-play, pause, rewind and volume functions.

Checklist

Ensure that:

● The mobile device uses one of the following operating systems: Android 2.3 and higher, iOS® 7 and higher, Windows® 7 and higher, Mac OS® 10.7 and higher and Chrome OS (version 38 or higher)

● The TV and the mobile device are connected to the same network
● A strong Wi-Fi or Ethernet signal 
● A secure connection is used for a wireless network in use (e.g. password, WPS)

● The TV is connected with a personal Google account (the instructions can be found via the link below this article).

How to cast from Google Cast Ready apps to the TV?

Stream high quality content to the TV via Google Cast Ready apps like Netflix or Youtube

Casting from a Cast Ready app means:

- Full High Definition (1080p) content can be casted to the TV

- It takes no additional battery life of the mobile device to cast from Cast Ready app to the TV

- A cast won’t stop to play when the mobile device is switched OFF during an active cast

Download/update an app on the mobile device.

Note : A list of cast enabled apps is also available in the Google play store > Apps > Category > Google cast. Google Cast Ready apps can be recognised by this symbol:

To cast the app to the TV, open it and find the cast button inside of the app -
Press this button to cast the app to the TV.



How to cast the whole screen of a mobile device to the TV?

Stream any content visible on the mobile device to the TV by casting the whole screen
Screen cast means:

- Any content visible on a mobile device at a time can be streamed to the TV

- The quality of the material will be the same as on the mobile device
- Cast screen will affect the battery life of the mobile device

- The stream will stop if the mobile device is switched OFF during an active cast

Open the settings menu of the mobile device.

Select the option “Cast screen” in the settings menu.


Done! The whole screen and all apps active on the mobile device will now be visible on the TV screen.


How to cast the Google Chrome Internet Browser to the TV?

Cast content from a Google Chrome internet browser on a laptop, PC or MAC to the TV


Casting from Chrome means:

- Cast any website which is Google Cast Ready in Full High Definition quality (1080p)

- All websites which are not Google Cast Ready can still be streamed in its original quality

- Only sound from the visible tab will be audible

- Websites based on the HTML5 coding are fully supported.

- Mirroring of the Chrome browser tab or mirroring or the PC desktop

1. Make sure the Google cast extension is installed on the Chrome browser.

To cast a browser, Google Chrome 28 is required. Click here to visit the Google support website and learn how to install the cast extension.

2. Open the Chrome browser and select the Cast button in the upper-right-hand side of the browser.

A list of available Wi-Fi connected devices will appear. Select the TV.


Done! The Google Chrome internet browser will now be visible on the TV screen.

Situation

It is possible to stream content from some apps (like Netflix, Youtube, HBO, Dazn, etc.) to the TV by triggering the casting from the app itself. 

Note: Unlike Android TVs, these models cannot receive casts from outside of cast-enabled apps.


Checklist

Ensure that:

● the software of the TV is up-to-date

● the TV and the mobile device are connected to the same network
● a strong Wi-Fi signal or Ethernet (if the device supports it)
