TV troubleshooting and FAQs

This article applies to all Philips Android™ TVs and the non-Android Smart TVs from 2014 or later*


Situation
The TV Remote app is suitable for the Philips Android TV range.

Checklist
Ensure that:
• The TV & the smart device are connected to the internet via the same home network
• The TV Remote app is supported on the smart device
- Apple IOS7 (iPad, iPhone, iPod) or later
- Android v2.3.3 / 4.0 (streaming) or later

Answer
On Apple iOS devices at first-time startup of the Philips TV remote app you select OK on the following dialog in order to be able to browse and playback your mobile device content within the Philips TV Remote app or push it to TV via DLNA. 

 

Now on TV


Main folder





Open ‘Watch TV’

Press ‘Watch TV’
















Press "Channels"

Channels screen




Directly watch

• Press the channel icon (picture) for a while – the app directly zaps to the TV channel




 



Content Detail Page


After clicking on a show in the ‘Channels’ screen, you see the details of the program details and its playing schedule.



 

To watch the show

Press the “Watch” button at the bottom of the page.



Mobile TV player



Play the TV show on your mobile.



The page includes controls for volume, channel selection and more.



Press the icon in the upper right corner to control the TV

Content browser

Side menu: Select Media Browser. A device list will slide in from the right




Content Area: You see DLNA servers in your home network incl. your mobile device

Voice search

Using text or voice search for content discovery


 

Search menu

Type text in search entry field on top of screen or select Microphone icon for voice search.


 

Search menu : Press OK when PTA is allowed to use the iOS device microphone for voice search


 

Search menu : speak the search request for content while the app is listening. Cancel by pressing the X button


 

Search results menu: Tap a media item once to view inside the PTA or tap and hold an item to play directly on your paired TV




App Settings menu


Select TV

Pull down to refresh TV list

Selecting a new TV will result in loss of pairing info of old TV

Voice Language


Change Voice Search Language

Supported languages: Dutch, English, French, German, Italian, Russian, Spanish

App-Lock



PIN-protect the App on the smart device

File Sharing

Toggle visibility of this device on the network

Device Name (Android Only)

Change DMS name on the network

Video Quality (Android Only)

Change to reduce rebuffering of video during TAD use case

Transcode Video (iOS Only)




*Notes:
• Philips TV Remote app and related functionalities vary per TV model, operator and country, as well as smart device model and OS.
